当代人作当代史是梁启超史学理论建构的一个重要部分。他之所以倡导当代人作当代史出于两方面的学术关怀:一是追求信史的理念。以当代人之优势把亲闻所见记录下来,有利于史料的丰厚储存。二是史学经世的意识。从历史书写的角度来看,以当代为主,着重研究具有现实性的问题,能更好地发挥史学的效用。今天看来,他的理论与实践仍具久远的魅力,对当代中国史的研究有着巨大的启发意义。

The idea of current history written by contemporary is an important part of historical theory posed by Liang Qichao. There are two academic reasons： the one is the idea of pursuing true history, and the other is the consciousness of historical function. By doing so, not only plenty of rare historical resource can be reserved, but also the great social function of history can be exerted. As he advocated, Liang wrote many contemporary history books about his time. Even in this day , Liang＇ s theory and practice still have great enlightenments on the approach to China history.
