Floating ring is a structure often used in the shaft end seal of centrifugal compressor. This article introduces a basic structure and principle of the floating ring,analyzes the fail- ures of the floating ring seal in the operation such as low pressure difference at external float- ing ring,bias flow of external return oil,wear of floating ring and overstocking liquid at refer- ence gas pipe.And put forward the condition and attention matters for the safe and stable op- eration of the floating—ring seal.
