This text asserts the influence of celestial Taoism in the Wei and Jin Dynasties on the stories of fox-spirits in the Six Dynasties, whose authors transported the ideas of the self-culmination of celestial Taoism to the alternative 'approaching to divinity' of the fox-spirits and made them 'humanlike'.Thus was decided the story's basic mode of fox-spirits in the Tang and Song Dynasties and the overall imaginative character of the fox-spirits.
