Science is often conceived of as a purely technical and instrumental pursuit. But there is actually a deep connection between science and spirituality which can be. applied to a reformed understanding of economics. In the 20th century, Mbert Einstein reaffirmed the necessary connection between spirituality and creative scientific work. Within the field of economics, only a small number of scholars, particularly Henry George and John Maynard Keynes, have developed an organic view of economic relationships. Their holistic or spiritual perspective enabled them to find innovative solutions to social problems of unemployment and poverty that could not be addressed adequately with reductionist methods of analysis. Thus, spirituality is not merely a private or inner experience; it has tremendous implications for producing intellectual achievements that can bring about social harmony.
