Review of the Establishment of Modern Education by Zhang Baixi

张百熙作为清末管学大臣,设想勾画了近代教育的蓝图,其实践奠定了近代教育的基础,高等教育由此发端,系统教育自此时始。本文拟追述其历史贡献,探讨其教育思想,追溯其创办近代教育的渊源。

Zhang Baixi was the manager of education in late Qing dynasty. His conception dehneated the educational blue print in modem time, and his practice laid the educational foundation in modem time. Higher education as well as the system education generated from here. This text, in order to narrate the relations between Zhang Baixi and the education in the late Qing Dynasty, intends to track his history contributions, explore his education thoughts, and trace back to the origin of iris establish the education in modem time.
