The worldwide current situation of PTA b value determmauon and the effect of PTA b value on technology quality was introduced. The factors that have effect on b value such as illuminant, visual angle, sample mass,instrument were discussed. It was pointed out that in the PTA hue（ b value）determination process,central value and deviation scope should be determined.
