按照班固等人的记载,东汉洛阳城是充分借鉴了儒家都城营造思想建立起来的。通过有关史料记载和考古发掘,可以认定东汉洛阳城参考了《考工记》的营国思想。东汉间人将明堂、辟雍、灵台作为洛阳的标志性建筑,即意味着东汉政治文化对礼乐教化的高度认同。

According to Ban Gu＇s records, the construction of Luoyang city was substantially pursuant to Confucian thoughts of metropolitan construction. By way of historical records and archaeological findings, it is ascertainable that architectural thoughts in The Book of Craft Techniques were applied to the building of Luoyang city in east Han Dynasty. And this period saw hall of light, circular moat and platform garden as symbolical architectures in Luoyang, which was a tribute to how the culture in East Han Dynasty emphasized moralization through rites and music.
