试论翻译的标准及技巧

On the Criteria and Techniques of Translation

翻译是运用一种语言把另一种语言所表达的内容准确而完整地重新表达出来的语言活动。翻译有两大标准———忠实与通顺,也就是原文的内容必须要确切地、完全地表达出来,而表达此种内容的译文形式又是比较完善的。在翻译表达的过程中也存在着许许多多翻译的技巧,翻译的两种最基本的技巧是直译与意译。

Translation is a language activity to use one language to express another one＇s meaning accurately and completely. Based on the muhicriteria theory for translation, an introduction is given to the two criteria： faithfulness and smoothness. That is to say, in translation the meaning of the source language has to be expressed accurately and completely in the target language, and the translation form should also be smooth and complete. There are also many kinds of ways and techniques for language expression. Here two most basic translation techniques - literal translation and liberal translation are introduced.
