Comparison between the Westernization Group and the Reformation Group's Opinion on the Western Culture

洋务派和维新派的西学观分别代表了中国人西学观的发展过程中的前后两个阶段。洋务派与维新派都承认西学中的长处,都主张学习西学。但他们的西学观具有很大的不同。在学习西学的途径上,洋务派主张以中学为主体,在中学的基础上附加西学中的部分内容,维新派则主张将中学与西学互相融合。

The Westernization Group and the Reformation Group＇s opinion on the Western culture represented two stages of Chinese understanding of the Western Culture. The Westernization Group and the Reformation Group both agreed that there were good qualifies in the Western culture and China should learn them. But there were many differences between their opinions, too. The Westernization Group maintained that China should absorb the Western culture partly, but the Reformation Group maintained China should absorb the Western culture completely.
