二十一世纪,随着电脑的普及,计算机和互联网技术以惊人的速度改变着人们的生活方式、思维方式、受教育方式和学习方式。网络环境下教学资源的开放性、交互性和全球性对英语教学和英语学习产生巨大的影响,促使英语教学的环境、内容、模式、方法和过程,以及作业的设计等诸多方面更加灵活和开放。

In the 21st century, computers become more and more popular. Multimedia and network technology has been affecting people from many aspects, such as life styles, thought patterns and ways of obtaining education with an amusing speed. The liberalization, mutualization and globalization of teaching resources have a great impact upon English language teaching and learning. New technologies make English teaching environment, content, approach, process and the design of assignments more flexible and open. This paper tries to present how multimedia and network technology helps improve English language teaching and learning from the following aspects： The related theories of English teaching and learning; The models, advantages and disadvantages of using new technologies; The required qualities for us English teachers in the information age.
