New Triphenylene Based Discotic Liquid Crystals with Mixed Tails: Molecular Symmetry and Wide Columnar Mesophase Range

摘要 一系列新 trialkoxytrialkanoyloxytriphenylene TP (OCnH2n+1 ) 3 (OCOCmH2m+1 ) 3 (5a5e )(n=m+1=48 ) discotic 液体晶体被准备,他们的具有由中胚叶发达的性质被调查使用微分扫描热量测定(DSC ) 并且极化光显微镜学(POM ) 。更高融化点和空地的对称、更短的链 triphenylenes 显示指,高度订的更多和稳定的圆柱的 mesophase 比不均匀、更长的链 triphenylenes 分别地。 A series of new trialkoxytrialkanoyloxytriphenylene TP(OCnH2n+1)3(OCOCmH2m+1)3 (5a-5e) (n =m+1 =4- 8) discotic liquid crystals were prepared and their mesomorphic properties were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing optical microscopy (POM). The symmetrical and shorter chain triphenylenes display higher melting points and clearing points, more highly ordered and stable columnar mesophase than the asymmetrical and longer chain triphenylenes respectively.
