李益“五在兵间”的独特从军经历对其边塞诗的创作产生了重大影响,与盛唐相比,他的边塞诗在题材上有新的开拓,在艺术表现手法上有新的追求,在体式和风格上有新的变化。他继盛启中,为中唐诗歌特别是中唐边塞诗的发展起了重要的作用。

Li Yi＇ s unique experience of five enlistments in thearmy had exerted a great infhience on his creation of frontier fortross poems. Compared with those in the peaceful and prosperous Tang Dynasty, his frontier fortress poem has a new development in its theme, a new pursuit in artistic device, a new change in its forms and styles. He followed and developed and had played an important role in the Mid-Tang poetry, especially in the development of the Mid-Tang frontier fortress poems.
