Speculations over What Puzzled Graduate English Teaching in China

近年来,为满足社会对高、精、尖人才的迫切需求,各大中院校加大了英才教育的力度。随着地球的村落化以及中国加入WTO,新世纪的精英即将迈上的是国际舞台。英语将成为他们的舞台语言。然而资料显示众多院校的非英语专业研究生英语教学捉襟见肘,状况堪忧。在各方面各层次对研究生英语教学进行适时适势的改革已迫在眉睫,刻不容缓。否则,它将成为制约研究生教育发展和质量的瓶颈。

During the past few years, universities in China enrolled much more graduates to meet the demands for more advanced and refined talents. And English, as an international language, will be a vital qualification for them to perform well on the world stage. However, the English teaching and learning situations for graduates in some of the universities are faced with problems it never had before. A better quality and future of both the graduates and graduate education calls for urgent and intense attention paid to reforms in English language teaching for graduates.
