Adopting an effective fictional and rhetoric narrative strategy, Lu Yao succeeds in his work Life in manipulating the text and driving back the contract-ruining protagonist Oa Jialin to the countryside, This paper makes a detailed analysis to the novel and concludes that Lu＇s emotional and aesthetic world belongs to the past, and this is his limitation and his strong point. In the traditional aesthetic world, i. e. the ＂public expectation filed of vision＂, the aesthetic feelings of the author and reader are mixed together. That is why Life succeeds.
