India's "Look West Strategy" and Its Impact

冷战结束后,印度从其所处的地缘政治环境出发,对本国的战略进行了全方位的调整, “西进”战略即是其中之一。“西进”战略是印度国家发展战略中的重要一环,为印度开展积极的邻国外交创造了有利条件。印度实行的“西进”战略有其历史因素和文化背景,而美国对南亚战略的调整也对印度的“西进”战略产生了一定的影响。目前,印度的“西进”战略已初见成效。

India has changed its national strategy since the end of Cold War, this change is comprehensive, and “Look West” strategy is one of them. It becomes an important step in the national developing policy of India, and creates a favorable condition for India＇s Neighbourhood Diplomacy Policy. There are some deep historical factors and cultural backgrounds behind “Look West” Strategy. and the strategy towards South Asia by United States of America also imfluences the “Look West ”. At present, the “Look West” Strategy has made a Pretiminary results.
