Recent advances on the role of chromatin in regulating eukaryotie briefly introduced in this review. Histone modifications, chromatin remodeling, DNA methylation and siRNA are discussed in context of chromatin structure-function relationship. Research achievements on chromatin function sheds lights on novel mechanisms in physiological or pathological phenomena that implicate candicates in future disease prevention and therapeutic targeting.
