As is well known, Mr. Rochester has been a symbol of human culture like Tess and Jane Eyre. This paper, based on the historical background and the power discourse theory, studies Mr. Rochester from the angle of nude power literature, and arrives at the conclusion that on one hand, Mr. Rochester is oppressed by social power discourse and patriarchy literature; on the other hand, he also acts as a accomplice of authority of the husband literature to Bertha and Jane Eyre. So it can be said that Mr. Rochester is a complicated and contradictory character who is the representative of literature of his day.
