摘要
“罔两”一词历来向有“无据依”、“景外微阴”及“精怪”三义。“无据依”之义最早见于《楚辞章句》,然王逸之说有未安处。文章通过对传统三义的探析,论证罔两尚有“恍惚”之义,《楚辞》“罔两”即同于“恍惚”;而四义之间看似无关,实则皆源于此词的字面解释——“非二”。
Traditionally, the word wangliang has three different meanings： unsettledness, penumbra and elf. The meaning of unsettledness first appears in Wang Yi$ Chuci Zhangju. However, Wang＇s commentary is not proper. Examining the three traditional meanings, this paper aims to find out the fourth meaning - elusiveness, which is a more proper explanation for this word used in Chuci. It is also argued that all the meanings are actually derived from the word＇s literal signification- neither＇.
