Ploygonatum was used for a long time in Chinese traditional medicine which has the functions of keeping body healthy and extending the life-span. This review deals with chemical constituents and biological activity of Ploygonaturn on the basis of literature information systematically collected , so as to lay a good foundation for development and clinical application. Problems and trends of research in the field were put forward.
