《花样年华》的英文字幕翻译策略研究——兼谈中国影片的对外译介

The English subtitling of the Chinese movie In the Mood for Love is a success linguistically, culturally and technically. It is succinct and lucid, and conveys the most relevant information to the intended audience in the most effective way. The story told in English flows well and exhibits only one very minor jarring note to perturb the dramatic experience. The author of this thesis analyzes the strategies for subtitling of the movie and also gives some thoughts to the translation of Chinese movies in general and their promotion in the world market.
