This paper takes the 18th-century English poet Alexander Pope' s early poem "Windsor-Forest" for example in the analysis of an important and prominent ethical ideology that permeates Pope' s poems-harmony. The appearance of the ethical ideology of harmony in Pope ' s poems is not accidental, but is in agreement with the tradition and has far-reaching historical significance. The poet' s observation of the complicated phenomena of the nature has triggered his reflections on mankind, society and history. Pope expounds and demonstrates his ethical ideology of harmony through his depiction of the disorderliness and irrationality of nature, society and history, and his comments on some political and historical events in English society.
