The viewpoint has been the focus of the debates in many recent object recognition studies. Two major theories about the viewpoint, structural description model and image-based model, and some recent research are reviewed. The shortcomings of the current research are pointed out, and the solution to the debate, which is thatimproving the object representation model, is discussed in this article.
