与礼空隐道独为师的“函”字辈诸人,或早卒,或抗清而牺牲,或为遗民,其与天然函禅师的交往,表现出那个时代岭南佛门的禅僧具有强烈的遗民倾向,其价值取向有强烈的人文精神。

Tianran Hanshi was a bonze who lived in the late of Ming Dynasty（his master name is Daodu Kongying） ,he had ten compeers, some of them died early, some gave their lives as a sacrifice for the revolt against the Qing Dynasty, some became adherents of the Ming Dynasty. The friendship between Hanshi and his compeers a strong tendency that they are the adherents of the Ming Dynasty and humanistic spirit.
