中法越南问题交涉与英国“中国通”的居间作用研究

Study on the Sino-French Negotiations on Vietnam Issues and the Role of the "English Expert on China"

19世纪中叶中法越南问题交涉是清政府维护传统宗藩权,反对法国侵占越南的重大外交行动。但在中法交涉的过程中,始终存在着第三种力量“居间”左右谈判的结果,这些人就是所谓的英国“中国通”。他们依靠英国政府的支持,大胆地介入中国的各种事务。为了维护英国的利益,他们不惜牺牲中国的利益,千方百计地把谈判导入预先设计好的方案,致使中国不败而败。纵观中国近代社会诸多对外交涉事件,均与这些客居于清政府中的英国“中国通”有关,这也从一个侧面反映了晚清政权洋奴化的一些特征。

In the middle of 19th century, the negotiations on Vietnam issues between China and France were the significant diplomatic affairs of Qing Dynasty to main its suzerainty and prevent France from invading Vietnam. During the course of the negotiations, with the support of the Britain government, some mediators, the so-called English expert on China in Qing government, intervened in affairs of China and tried all means to lead the Qing government to where they had expected in the negotiations for the sake of the British government. Many of the Chinese diplomatic affairs in modem times are related to these English experts on china. This phenomenon reflects some features of servility of Qing government in the foreign affairs.
