院校研究起源于欧美并流行于美国高等教育领域。文章通过中美两国高等教育体制、大众化阶段、数据收集等方面的比较,认为院校研究应坚持中国本位,借鉴美国经验,建构中国自己的院校研究系统,为中国高校的发展和决策提供信息和咨询服务。

Academy research started in Europe and America and became popular m the US. In comparing and contrasting the educational systems of Sino American higher educations in terms of their time consuming effort on data gathering, this paper holds that the academy research in China should base on th.e local situation, with American experience as reference, construct our own research system and provide service and information for policy making in China＇s higher education.
