弗洛姆社会性格理论建立在人与物质世界的关系和人与人之间的关系双重基础之上。他从人的同化和人的社会化两个角度分析了社会性格的类型和特质,从内涵、成因和功能三个方面界定了社会性格的概念,并以此理论为武器,批判了资本主义社会的现实,展望了人类社会的美好前景。

Fromm＇s theory of social character was based on an understanding of human ＆ material- world relationship and human ＆ human relationship. He analyzed the types and traits of social character in the respects of assimilation and socialization. A definition of social character was also given in terms of its connotation, formation and function. In his arguments, Fromm criticized capitalist society with an outlook of human future from an optimistic view.
