Ihara Saikaku and Chonin Culture

井原西鹤是日本江户时代的小说巨匠,是描写当时町人生活的小说———“浮世草子”的创始人。“浮世草子”深受町人阶层的喜爱,成为江户町人文化的主要表现形式。井原西鹤的小说创作促进了江户町人文化的繁荣和发展。

Being the Japanese Master of Novel in the period of Edo, Iharasaikaku wrote about the life of Chonin. He was also the forefather of Ukiyozoshi which was very popular among the Chonin people and what he portraited was the main expression of Chonin culture. Iharasaikaku＇s creativity in novels had promoted the development and flourishing of Chonin culture.
