Variations serum Mg, Cr, Mn and Sr were studied in 40 diabetics (DM group), 35 patients with coronary heart disease ( CHD group), 22 diabetics with CHD(DM-CHD group ) and 45 healthy subjects ( control group). Our results suggest that the mean concentration of serum Mg, Cr and Mn was significantly lower in DM group, CHD group, and DM-CHD group compared with those in the control group ( P<0.01 ) The mean concentration of serum Sr was significantly higher in the three patient groups than in the control group ( P<0.01 ) and was the highest in DM-CHD group (P<0.01). It has been found that serum Mg is correlated with the duration of disease and FBI level, and that serum Cr is correlated with the duration of disease only (P<0.05); other elements have no statistically significant difference.
