2005年中国石油和化工生产快速增长,市场需求旺盛,固定资产投资大幅增长,进出口贸易活跃,民营石化企业蓬勃发展,石化产业的区域结构更趋合理。展望今后,中国石化工业仍将处于迅速发展的上升阶段,存在诸多有利因素:全球经济的较快增长将继续推动对石化产品的需求;国内经济持续快速的增长,形成对石化行业发展的强大推动力;稳定的政策环境,将为行业的持续快速发展提供新动力;巨大的市场空间和逐步完善的市场经济环境,将促使大量国外资本和民营资本进入石化领域,为行业的发展带来新的活力。与此同时,中国的石化行业发展还面临着许多困难和矛盾,例如,快速发展与资源短缺的矛盾,提高国际竞争力与自主创新能力不强的矛盾,建立资源节约型和环境友好型社会与行业技术、管理水平落后的矛盾等,面对这些长期制约行业发展的问题,应认真对待,并采取切实措施加以解决。

The year 2005, for the Chinese petrochemical industry, was marked byrobust growth in the petrochemical production, surging market demand, notedincrease inc apital investment,a ctive importa nd export,v igorousd evelopmentof private petrochemical companies and more reasonable geographicaldistributiono ft he industry. TheC hinesep etrochemicali ndustry will,a t leastin the near future, be at the stage of rapid development, propelled by theaccelerating growth of the global economy. In turn, this increases the demandfor petrochemical products, sustained high-speed domestic economic growthand a stable policy environment. As a result, this will generate new momentumfor the industry's fast growth, and huge market potential and the ever-improving market economy in China, which is expected to bring huge amountsof private and foreign capital into the industry, breathing new air into itsdevelopment. Some difficulties and problems, however, still lie on its wayahead. This includes the shortage of resources versus the fast development.The urgent need to improve global competitiveness on one hand and the lack of capacityo f independenti nnovationo n theo ther, anda l ow level ofi ndustrialtechnical development, with management getting in the way of building aresource-economizing,e nvironment-friendlys ociety. Concentrateda ctionsneed to be taken to address these problems that might hinder the industry'sdevelopment in the long term, if left unaddressed.
