The Evolution of Kang Youwei's View on Monarchy

康有为一生的政治思想和实践都未偏离“君主”这一中心。康有为君主观的演变有两条线索:一条是从学理和政治形势出发,通过观察、比较、思考逐步演进的政治、学术理想,即君主立宪;另一线索是作为传统知识分子,对光绪皇帝知遇之恩的报答之情,这也深刻影响着他的君主观。

The political thinking and practice of Kang Youwei during his whole life centered around the ＂monarchy＂. There were two lines in the evolution of view on monarchy： one was his political and academic ideal,, i. e , constitutional monarchy which formed as a result of his observation, comparison and thinking starting from theoretical studies and political situations; the other was his gratitude toward the Guangxu Emperor for his appreciation of his talents which also deeply influenced his view on monarchy.
