民国时期的广东赌禁探析

An Exploration and Analysis of the Ban on Gambling in Guangdong During the Era of the Republic of China

民国以还,粤省承袭了晚清赌祸。处于传统到近代化转型时期的广东,其政治、经济、文化、社会风尚为赌博提供了新的特殊社会背景,整体社会系统处于残缺与失控的状态,历届治粤者对赌博驰禁不一,最终形成“禁者自禁,开者自开”的局面,导致粤省赌祸持续泛滥。

The Republic of China inherited the gambling scourge of the late Qing period. The political, economic, cultural and social fashions in the Guangdong society in the transition period provided new and special social background for gambling. The whole society was then fragmented and out of control and succeeding governments varied in their determination and efforts to ban gambling. As a result, the government was banning but the gamblers were gambling and the scourge of gambling continued to inflict the province.
