汇丰、花旗等外资银行随着列强侵略中国的步伐先后进入上海,无论是代表在中国的洋行还是其本国之内金融财团的利益,它们在存、贷、汇等业务上全面攫取利益的行为是一样的。为求得生存和发展,它们与上海的钱庄、华资银行以及中国政府之间均形成既冲突又相互支持的局面,而一切关系的转化都以它们的利益为出发点。
