A Powerful Tool for Fiber Analysis Modified Galerkin Method

提出一种基于Ｇａｌｅｒｋｉｎ方法的可对任意折射率剖面分布光纤的任意线偏振模计算的改进方法，文中给出了相应方法的详细理论推导，并对几个关键的光纤传输参量如传输常数、色散特性、模场半径等的数值计算方法作了改进，使运算效率有很大提高，这种方法可成为光纤分析与设计的有力工具。

This paper issues a modified Galerkin method to calculate the propagation parameters of LPmn modes in optical fibers with arbitrary index profile. Detailed theoretical formulation is present. The numerical methods for calculating several key propagation parameters such as the propagation constants, chromatic dispersion characteristics,mode field radius etc, are modified for better computing. This method yields very good results.
