This paper, a book review of An Approach to Translation as Adaptation and Selection, is intended to see how the monograph, by introducing Darwinist Evolution Theory into the field of translation theory, combines science and art into one in translation studies and thus shakes off the fetters of themyth of ＂modernity＂ in its ＂postmodern＂ theoretic formulation. It also argues that the theory propounded in the book can inspire a new insight of the integrity of human cultures and point to the significance of translation in the latter＇ s bringing changes to them.
