REVIEW AND PROSPECT ON MOUNTAIN RESEARCH IN INSTITUTE OF MOUMAIN HAZARDS AND ENVIRONMENT, CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES & MIMSTRY OF WATER CONSERVANCY(IMHE)

我所山地研究的优势和特色为：１．山地灾害及其防治；２．山地环境的形成、退化与生态建设；３．环境评价、规划与区域持续发展，４．山地环境遥感与地图；５．一批配套的野外观测台站和室内实验设施；６．本所已成为西南山地研究基地，主办有《山地研究》杂志．

IMHE was founded on May 1966. The fundamental purpose of IMHE was to develop,utilize and protect the mountain resources. Since its founding,the institute,integrated closely the need of the economic development of mountainous region in Southwest China,has undertaken more than 400 projects including the research or production tasks concening the prevention and control of mountain hszards,the development,utilhation and protect of the mountain resources, etc. It has achieved 350 results of scientific reearch and has obtrained 98 praies for significant achievements in national, atalendc and provinced levels, as well as has sponsored periodical ' Mountain Research'and put forward the Montology of China,so as to make contribution to the economic construction of the mountainous region and the cause of mountain science. The superiorly and the research characteristics in IMHE are: 1. mountain hazards and their prevention and control ; 2. the formation,evolution trends and ecologic establishment of the mountain environment; 3. evaluation and plan of environment and the regional Persistence development; 4. remote sensing of mountain environment and mapping. A research contingent of mountain science has been trained in the Institute and a number Of field obervation stations and a laboratory have been built. It has been a research basis of mountain in Southwest Chipa. According to the basis of IMHE,the developing trends of mountain science abroad and home and the economic situation of the socislist market, mountain research in IMHE should be: 1. to give plsy to the research superiorly of mountain hazard and environment,and to strength the departments serving for the economic construction in the mountainous region; 2. to be based on mountain Persistence development in China and to launch the international cooperation to extend the effect of mountain research in China; 3. to defined the key aims to make a high-level break-through in the near future; 4. to adhere to put on the main research force to the development and construction of the mountainous region and to establish IMHE into the centre of mountain research in China.
