The notions of ＂Inner Passive Sentences＂ and ＂Outer Passive Sentences＂ are suggested and analyzed in the following four aspects ： 1. origin of passive structure ; 2. structural analysis of verbal idioms in the form of of ＂V ＋ NP ＋ Prep＂ ; 3. the characteristics of transformation between ＂Inner Passive Sentences＂ and ＂Outer Passive Sentences＂ ; and 4. semantic restrictions in passivization.
