The Progress of Combined Modality Therapy for Esophageal Cancer

食管癌的综合治疗,临床试验有术前(新辅助)化疗,术前同时联合化放疗,或对局部区域病变单用化放疗,以及对有高复发危险的患者行术后(辅助)化疗。食管癌的综合治疗在提高食管癌患者的远期生存率,改善生活质量中的地位变得越来越重要。全文介绍食管癌综合治疗的现状及最新进展。

The relative poor outcome with surgery alone or radiation alone has prompted the development of combined modality therapy for esophageal cancer. Recent clinical trials have evaluated the use of preoperative（neoadjuvant） chemotherapy followed by surgery, combined concurrent preoperative chemo-radiotherapy, or chemo-radiotherapy alone without surgery for local disease , and postoperative（adjuvant） chemotherapy for the patients with high risk of recurrence. Combined modality therapy for esophageal cancer is the one of the most important methods to improve the survival and quality of life. This article reviews the current progress of the comprehensive therapy for esophageal cancer.
