The current studies on oral administration of protein and peptide drugs, including absorption mechanism, adsorption sites in gastrointestinal lumen and the causes of low bioavailability of protein and peptide drugs through oral administration, were discussed. The focus of the review is on the methods for inproving oral bioavailability of protein and peptide drugs.
