The establishment of land-grant colleges is an important landmark in the development of American higher education and takes great effects. Firstly, this paper introduces the historical background, and then analyzes the internal economic reasons for the establishment of land-grant colleges. At last, this paper points out the contributions made by land-grant colleges to American higher education and the revelation to the development of Chinese higher education.
