Inositol was oxidated into formic acid by sodium periodate under heating condition. Standard curve was set up according to a linear relationship between optical densitychange before and after heating and inositol concentration. Inositol content in a solution couldbe determined precisely at range of 0. 05 to 0. 4 mmol. L-1. The method is more simple andconvenient and is used to determine inositol content and purification of product at industrialproduction.
