The Caravan Inn, A Lost Architecture

西南丝绸之路的文明已经走向过去,然而历史给我们留下了它的一些物证。这些物证承载着丝路昔日的文明,马店就是其中之一。今天的马店大都已经消失或被毁坏了,然而在云南驿仍然还有一些马店建筑存在着。以建筑学的角度看,从布局到细部,这些马店均脱胎于当地的传统民居,但又与民居有所区别,有自己的特点。从历史文化的角度出发,这些马店是我们历史文化遗产的一部分,应妥善保护它们。

The civilization of the Southwest Silk Road is a past glory and among the remaining evidences outstands the caravan inn. Most caravan inns have disappeared with history but a few such buildings have survived in Yunnan - Yi. From the perspective of architecture, their layout and details axe somewhat similar to the local houses but they have their differences and traits. As a part of our historical and cultural heritages, they should be put under protection.
