Sublimity: Quintessence of Transformation in Complete Translation

运用“以钱解钱”的方法,对钱钟书先生的“化”进行源流考证和语义诠释,并以他的“化”艺作为佐证,揭示作为全译转换的核心,“化”的实质是求得译文与原文最大限度的“似”,即“极似”。

By employing the popular method of ＂interpreting Qian Zhongshu in his own words＂, the present paper aims at offering a comprehensive and thorough interpretation ＂sublimity＂ put forward by Mr Qian in terms of its philosophical origin and semantic connotations. It points out that, as the quintessence of transformation in complete translation, ＂sublimity＂ is in essence seeking the maximum similarity between the source text and target text.
