The Current Situation and Inspiration of Japan’s Policy of Building the Country upon Tourism

旅游观光产业已成为世界各国争相发展的现代服务业。旅游业对带动其它产业和扩大就业具有明显的经济效果。日本对旅游业成为21世纪日本的支柱产业表现出极大的期待和关心,2003年4月发表了旅游观光立国报告书,强调了增进国际交流和经济自由化以及旅游观光立国目标的重要性,揭示了外国人到日本旅游人数少的问题,从更广泛的角度探讨了日本旅游观光立国的基本问题。

Tourism, which has already become the modem service industry for the development of which various countries heatedly compete with each other, has brought about obvious economic benefit in propelling other industries and promoting employment. Japan published its ＂Building the Country upon Tourism＂ report in April, 2003, showing great expectation and concern for tourism to become the mainstay industry of the country in the 21st century. The report emphasized the import .ante of such issues as international exchange, economic liberalization and the goal of building the country upon tourism, revealed the problem of the small number of foreign tourists to Japan, and considered from a more extensive angle the fundamental question of Japan＇s building the country upon tourism.
