摘要
讨论了在以太无源光网络(EPON)中应用前向纠错(FEC)技术的利弊两个方面。其有利的方面是可以加倍PON的距离或光分路器的分光比;不利的是会带来开销,延时和增加复杂性及提高成本。经分析后指出了FEC技术整体上对EPON系统还是利远远大于弊的。最后给出了FEC技术中编解码模块用FPGA实现的仿真结果。
This paper discussed the trade-off between system benefits brought about by FEC implementation in EPON on one hand and complexity, latency, overhead on the other hand. Simulation results of FEC encoding and decoding making use of FPGA design were given. The paper concludes that FEC is a desirable technique in EPON systems.
