Collation of Wudang Betelnut

榔梅是丹江口市武当山特有的一种水果,明代李时珍说:“只出均州太和山。”在千余年的生存历史中,榔梅经历异果—圣果—仙果—贡果—匿迹的演变。百余年来,人们因“折梅寄榔”神话而迷茫,因贡果的匿跡而惋惜,因悄然失踪而不解,武当榔梅成为一个历史之秘、物种之谜,引起社会的广泛关注。然而,作为丹江口市地方特产,明朝已列入贡品的有笋类、黄精、骞林茶等十种,它们正在受到重视与开发,唯独具有重要价值和开发潜力的榔梅还不知是何物。1998年,丹江口市科委将武当榔梅的研究列入科研项目,课题组通过论证、调查、实验、鉴定,找到了武当榔梅就是现在的黄蛋树。专家鉴定说,它很可能是杏、李的天然杂交树种。

Wudang Betelnut is a kind of fruit growing in Wudang Mountains only of Danjiangkou City, according to Li Shizhen, the famous doctor of the Ming Dynasty. In the following more than one thousand years history, Wudang Betelnut has changed from strange fruit, sacred fruit, saint fruit, and fruit of imperial tribute to disappearing. During this process, the people has always paid close attention to and continued researching on it. In 1998, the Science Committee of Danjiangkou City decided to research and develop Wudang Betelnut. After thesis team＇s reasoning, investigation, experiment and identification, they found that Wudang Betelnut is nowadays Yellow-egg Tree, the crossbreeding tree of apricot and plum.
