Disputes on Confucius's Evaluation to Guan Zhong

管仲是中国历史上一位有争议的重要人物。孔子对管仲的评论,也成为历来一个有争议的话题。肯定派学者理解为孔子称许管仲为仁人,这符合孔子本意;半肯定派理解为只谓其有仁者之功,未许为仁人,这种认识带有片面性;否定派认为孔子未曾以仁论管仲,这是完全错误的。孔子评管仲为仁人,有其理论上的根据,符合历史事实,是正确的。

Guan Zhong is an important but controversial figure in Chinese history. And Confucius＇ s evaluation of Guan Zhong has also been a disputed subject. The positive scholars hold that Confucius evaluates Guan Zhong as a benevolent man. This does accord with Confucius＇ s original idea. The semi-positive scholars claim that Guan Zhong, according to Confucius＇ s idea, only has the exploits of a benevolent man, but is not a benevolent man. This is an one-sided view. The negative scholars insist that Confucius＇ does not evaluate Guan Zhong by the standard of benevolence. This is a wrong conclusion. Confucius＇ evaluating Guan Zhong as a benevolent man has his theoretical basis, and does conform to the historical facts.
