Haruki Murakami's novel Norwegian Wood involved the issues about sex and love as well as life and death, which expounded a cultural connation, i.e. the desire to existence expressed itself in a form of sex instinctively and of love unconsciously. Sex and love struggle eommpetitively with death instinct. To be or not to be,that is a question. It requires every living person to make self-exploration and self--choice. Only finding the meaning of life can a person establish the value of life and tend to choose to live, otherwise he would lose the support of living and fall into the deep trap of death. It seemed that the youngsters in the novel didn't find the meaning of life, but they all went through the complexion of life and the exploration of living. Maybe the answer itself is not important ,More important is that to live means seeking and advancing rather than giving up ,this is the essence of life and living.
