The commercial sideline test on manufacture of cyclohexanone via cyclohexane oxidation in the presence of a nonmetallic catalyst, jointly developed by CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and SINOPEC Baling Petrochemical Co., has passed the technical appraisal organized by SINOPEC. This process features a high conversion rate and a good selectivity, and its scale-up can be easily accomplished. The commercial application of this process can reduce the energy consumption for cyclohexanone production to realize a long cycle operation and increase the once through conversion rate, resulting in an over 30% output increase from the existing unit.
