关于大学,很多教育家、思想家都对其深广意义进行过探讨。笔者汲取各家思想的精华,从大学本身、大学之于个人、之于社会的基本意义中,探寻大学更深层次的价值观念和实践模式,提出了大学追求自由与真理、关注生命的成长以及推动社会发展的本真意义和价值追求。

Many educators and thinkers have researched into meaning of the university. Deriving essence from all schools, and proceeding from the basic meaning of the university to itself, to individuals and to the society to make probes into the rather deeper values and mode of practice of the university,the author of this essay puts forward that the univesity＇s original meaning and its pursuit of value lie in its pursuit of freedom and truth, in its concern for the growth of life, and in its promotion of social development.
