A Perspective on Transnational Media Corporations (TNMCs) in Contemporary International Relations——Whether Transnational Media Corporations Can Be a Global Civil Society?

在当今国际社会中,“跨国传媒”已经成为一个独立的国际行为体,具有全球市民社会的特征,是全球社会的公共领域,对构筑全球市民社会有着重要的意义。跨国传媒超越了民族国家的限度,有利于形成新的国际传播秩序,塑造新型的国际关系。跨国传媒与民族国家是一种共生的关系,作者把“跨国传媒”和民族国家分别作为全球传播层面和全球政治层面的单位,将其置于全球化的时代背景下来分析“跨国传媒”对民族国家的影响。

In current international society, TNMCs have become independent international actors. With the characteristics of a global civil society, they belong to the public sphere of global society, and are of great importance to the construction of a global civil society. Surpassing the boundaries of nation-states, TNMCs will help formulate a new international media order and establish a new kind of international relations. With the coexistence of TNMCs and nation-states, the author sees them as unitary actors at the level of global media and global politics respectively, and analyzes the implications of TNMCs for nation-states against the background of globalization.
